Alice in Wonderland grew out of Carroll's entertainment of the children of Henry George Liddell, dean of Christ Church, he had a natrual charm for children, having been the eldest son with eight younger brothers and sisters, he also speak easier to children, a relief for him considering he had a stammer. Alice in Wonderland began as a tale spoken by Carroll.
